COMPOSIT REPORT _-
APPLICATION # alp /0 3 44
TOWN BOARD COMMENT:
STAFF COMMENTS
REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION (RPC) - --CUP 1034. This proposed mineral extraction site is In an agricultural preservation
area of the Town of Burke. This Is productive farmland, with soils which are a
mixture of prime farmland, and soils of statewide significance according to the USDA
definitions.
There are single family homes on the small lots to the northwest , which are
currently Impacted by the quarry sites to the west across Reiner Road. In addition,
there are homes on the 'long lots off Thorson Road northeast of the 'site, which would
also be Impacted.
The dashed line running north-south through the eastern portion of the site is the
ANR High Pressure Gas Line, which has a measuring station to the south along CTH T.
If this site is approved as proposed, it will be one of the largest quarries in Dane
County. With the concerns for farmland preservation, residential conflicts, and
protection of the safety of the gas line, the applicant should be asked to submit a
5-year plan of which area they would like to begin with and stating how much would
be needed. That scaled down site plan could then be considered for conditions.
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DEPT. (EHD)
CO. HIGHWAY DEPT.
OTHER
