Fleck <br /> Zoning Administrator <br /> Dane County Zoning Dept. <br /> City-County Building, Room 116 <br /> 210 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. <br /> Madison, WI 53709 <br /> Dear Mr. Fleck: <br /> I recently received a copy of Zoning Petition No. 5506 requesting <br /> a rezoning of approximately ten acres in the Town of Burke from <br /> R-3A Residential and C-1 Commercial District to the R-4 Residential <br /> District. The proposed rezoning of this land aggravates an already <br /> incompatible land use adjacent to the Dane County Regional Airport. <br /> Currently, the airport receives aircraft noise complaints from <br /> citizens west and northwest of the airport. The proposed area to <br /> be rezoned is adjacent to Runways 18 and 13, two of the busiest <br /> runways at the airport, which are located 3500 feet east of the <br /> property. Also, the primary arrival and departure routes for Army <br /> National Guard helicopters will cross almost directly over the <br /> property. In addition, Taxiway Alpha, located 3., 000 feet east of <br /> the property, has been used late at night for maintenance engine <br /> run-ups. <br /> To mitigate the effect upon the airport and provide prospective <br /> buyers with proper purchase information, the conditional approval <br /> of the rezoning should include the following stipulation: <br /> 1. The conveyance of a permanent noise and avigation easement to <br /> Dane County and; <br /> 2. A disclosure statement to be included in any covenants and <br /> restrictions of the property deeds stating, "Dane County <br /> Regional Airport is located 3500 feet east of the premises of <br /> the property.
