Waste oil is
collected in plastic containers, stored out of the elements, and periodically
delivered to recycling facilities. A record of waste oil shipments should be
maintained at your facility and transportation of waste oil should be
performed by a licensed solid waste transporter, If you would like to become
a solid waste transporter, please contact me for an application.
Waste antifreeze is collected and reused. Fuel oil is used as a parts
cleaning solution. Both waste fuel oil and gasoline are used in other items
in and around the shop area. Spills and small amounts of other fluids
generated at the repair garage are absorbed onto oil dry; the oil dry is then
disposed.
Freon from automobile air conditioning units is collected using a recovery
unit. You have received proper training and certifications which allow you to
recover freon from automobiles, large cooling units, and appliances. At the
present time, only the freon from automobiles is being handled at your
facility. The additional certifications were obtained in the event you choose
to expand into other areas of materials recycling.
In addition to working with me, you have been working closely with Rick
Weigle, Southern District Recycling Specialist, and Lance Green of the Air
Management program, to ensure your compliance with Department regulations. We
appreciate the active role you have taken in becoming familiar with, and
complying with Department regulations,
