BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT HEEARING
October 26, 1967
The Dane County Board of Adjustment met in Room 226, City-County
Building, Madison, Wisconsin at 7:30 P.M. October 26, 1967 to conduct
a public hearing as published in the notice. The following members of
the board were present: 0. K. Anderson, Chairman, Millard Erickson,
Vice Chairman and Hermann Eisner, Secretary. Also present were W. G.
Massarene, Zoning Supervisor, Lola Popanz Zoning Assistant
The meeting was called to order, notice read and the following case
called:
1. Appeal by Mr. and Mrs. Weber from the denial of a permit to
enlarge and repair the front porch of a residence located at County
Trunk "V", in the SE;.4- SEE Section 2, Town of Bristol. Permit denied
beaause setback from the road would be less than required by the Dane
County Ordinance.
THOSE IN FAVOR: Mr. and Firs. Weber appeared in favor. Mr. weber ex-
plained that their porch is in a run down, unusable condition; also
that they need to extend it to a depth of twelve feet in order to
provide additional living space. Mr. Weber stated that the requested
variance would place the front porch a distance of 63 feet from the
centerline of County Trunk V, and 30 feet from the right of way line.
This would be the same situation that is standard for a town road.
Mr. Eisner suggested to the chairman that it would be desirable to have a
schedule of locations and distances presented to the board, as was custo-
mary in the past. Mr. Weber produced an abstract with a drawing of the
property. Mr. Anderson stated that the variance would not obstruct the
view. Mr. Weber further stated that two other nearby buildings, one
being on each side of his, were closer to the road than is his own. Mr.
Eisner said that the Dane County Highway Commissioner had stated that
he had no objection to the variance. This was corroborated by Mr.
Massarene, who had discussed the matter with the Highway Commissioner
during a telephone conversation.
Mssrs. Burnson, Derr and Weisensel of the Bristol Town Board appeared.
All in favor.
THOSE OPPOSED: None
OTHERS: None
ACTION BY THE BOARD:
Appeal by Mr. and Mrs. Weber: GRANTED (Moved by Eisner, seconded by
Erickson, adopted unanimously.)
Discussion of next site inspection followed. M. J. Miller showed plans
for a Wausau Home that will be the subject of an appeal about to be
filed. This building site is proposed for inspection by the board on
October 28, 1967.
Meeting adjourned (moved by Erickson, seconded by Eisner)
Secretary, Hermann Eisnerd WJ rfj>y1 9 r-Z Q2l
