BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT INSPECTION TRIP - MAY 29, 1967
The Dand County Board of Adjustment met at the Town of Madison offices at
9:00 AM, Monday, May 29, 1967.The purpose of the meeting was to view properties
that would be considered at the public hearing scheduled for June 1, 1967.
The following members of the board were present: Martin Ripp, Chairman;
Hermann Eisner, Secretary; 0. K. Anderson, Member. Also present was William G.
Massarene, Zoning Assilttant. The board conducted inspections of the below
listed properties.
1. Lot 7, Camp Columbia, Sect 25, Town of Dung. Owner, Thomas G. Bricker,
was present and assisted the inspection by pointing out boundary lines and
describing proposed construction. It was noted that the continuation of the
existing east wall of the structire in place, which would be the item critical
to the provisions of the zoning ordinance, would range from 6 to 9 feet from the
east lot line. This if the owner builds straight back for 16 feet, as planned.
2. Lot 2, Block 1, Trantin Subdivision, Sect 33, Town of Westport. Neither
the owner nor the builder was present. Here a building permit had been revoked
after a complaint was received on grounds of insufficient setback, and inquiry
developed the fact that the planned location of the building had been changed
subsequent to issue of the building permit. The variance from the provisions
of the ordinance lies in the location of the front wall of the building, which
ranges from 22.5 feet to 27.0 feet setback. The ordinance requires 30 feet.
The property was viewed by the board and the dimensions were verified. The
foundation already is in place. It was noted that the position of the foundation
on the lot does not appear to be disproportionate. Also, that a line of
attractive trees that stands along the west side of the Old Borcher's Beech
Road would have to be removed if the existing road were widened to the limit
of the new right of way.
3. Pt of the NW%i NW%S Sect 9, Town of Berry. Norman Evert, owner, was present
and assisted by discussing building plans and reasons for proposed location.
Permission is requested to build with a 75 foot setback from the centerline of
State Highway 19, rather than 100 feet. The alternate, and in this case lesser
requirement of a 42 foot setback from the front lot line would be met. It was
noted that the farm adjacent to the west has a concrete silo located about the
same distance from the highway as is requested here. The existence of the
elevation dropoff mentioned in the application for permit was verified.
. Item 3 was the last on the agenda and the board returned to the Town of Madison.
•
This report was prepared by William G. Massarene, Zoning Assistant.
Secretary
L
