MINUTES OF THE DANE COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
MEETING OF March 15, 1974
Present: Erickson, Holte, Dahlk. Also: Enger, Fleck.
Meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M. in Room 226 by Chairman Erickson
to conduct a public hearing as published in the notice. Motion by Dahlk,
second by Holte to approve minutes of February 15, 1974, February 18,
1974 and March 9, 1974. Carried.
The Notice was read and the public hearing was opened.
#267. Appeal by David E. Joranson from denial of a permit to build an
addition to a residence located on part of Outlot B, in the plat of
Waucheeta, Section 5, Township of Dunn. Permit denied because side yard
and setback from road are less than required by the Dane County Zoning
Ordinance.
IN FAVOR: D. Jorenson; addition will provide enlarged kitchen, a dining
area, bedroom and an uncovered deck. Adding to the North end of the
residence would require filling the flood plain and a Special Exception
Permit. The proposed addition is the least drastic means to expand the
living area.
OTHERS IN FAVOR: None. OPPOSED: None. TOWN BOARD: Chairman Wm.
Offerdahl called; Town Board has no objection.
#268. Appeal by George Little from denial of a permit to restore and
repair a non-conforming residence located on Lot 2, Block 14, Plat of
Paoli, Section 10, Township of ?b ntrose. Permit denied because setback
from C.T.H. PB is less than required by the Dane County Zoning Ordinance.
IN FAVOR: G. Little; petition is to allow repair and restoration of a
non-conforming residence which was gutted by fire. Residence is two
family, separate units. Erickson; zoning is R-3 single family residence -
two family or duplex requires R-3A zoning, would you object to applying
for the correct zoning? Mr. Little; no, would like to be conforming.
OTHERS IN FAVOR: None. OPPOSED: None. TOWN BOARD: Not present.
COMMUNICATION: Dane County Highway, Don Walker, Assistant Commissioner,
no objection.
#269. Appeal by K. E. Huddleston from denial of a permit to build an
addition to a non-conforming residence located on Lot 20, Rock Elm Park
Extension and Lot 20A of the Addition to Rock Elm Park Extension, Section
26, Township of Dunn. Permit denied because setback from water, side
yard and setback from Highway 51 are less than required by the Dane County
Zoning Ordinance.
IN FAVOR: K. E. Huddleston, redesigned plans reducing size of residence;
will also require less variance from the highway. Distance from center
line will be 66' with a variance requirement of 34' . Erickson: Board of
Adjustment is concerned about the extent of variances required. Has
the right-of-way on the highway side of property been properly deeded
back? Could the garage be built to the south side instead of towards
the highway? What is the status and the exact location of the septic
field? Mr. Huddleston: Have been told right-of-way was deeded back,
would like advice on how to make certain; garage to south could be too
close to septic field. Not sure of septic system, has operated okay for
the past five summers, but not sure whether it is a cess-pool or the exact
location of field.
