DANE COUNTY HIGHWAY AND
TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT
[.\p l.
2302 Fish Hatchery Road, Madison, Wisconsin 53713-2495 .
phone (608)266-4261 FAX (608)266-4269 11t8''+
TO: Dane County Zoning and Natural Resources Committee
FROM: Dennis L. Norton, P.E. , Assistant Commissioner
DATE: April 14, 1993
SUBJECT: Zoning Petition 5577
Proposed Golf Course, CTH "S"
We have a major problem with this zoning petition, namely the
access to CTH "S" .
The West Middleton Land Company, agent for Mr. Watts, was
granted an access (89-11 ) specifically and only for a sod
farming operation. The Transportation Committee granted a
variance, based on agricultural hardship, in order to satisfy
the requirements of Chapter 79.
A golf clubhouse and proposed course is not only a definite
change-of-use for the access, but is constitutes a violation of
the access permit. The developer/owner has not made any
contact with office regarding the change.
The Transportation Committee must approve the change-of-use.
It has also been the policy of the Committee to require roadway
improvements, at the developer 's expense, when a proposed
facility has such an impact on traffic.
The close proximity of the elementary school should be a
concern as well. We hope any action by your committee or the
County Board will consider these issues.
Copies of Access Permit 89-11 and related documentation are
attached.&
