March 30, 1993 <br /> PROPOSAL: <br /> We want to build a modest, country home next to our <br /> Grandmother ' s farmhouse in Cottage Grove . To do this , <br /> we have to rezone the old orchard, which is a small <br /> portion of the 33 acre farm (see enclosed photo) . <br /> The orchard is just a few fruit trees and not part <br /> of the 31 . 3 acres of farmland in the CRP set-aside, <br /> which expires in September of 1998. We wish to build <br /> this summer, starting as soon as approval is granted . <br /> REASONS FOR THE REZONING: <br /> 1 . Our primary reason is to keep Grandma out of a <br /> nursing home. Because of her age and health concerns <br /> - -- _ _ -. ) , we want <br /> to provide assistance with her everyday living <br /> on the farm. She does not drive and needs help <br /> also with grocery shopping, errands , and getting <br /> to appointments f ol.S b0e,d, <br /> 2 . We have several secondary reasons for the rezoning. <br /> They are as follows . <br /> a) We wish to restore the farm buildings , which need <br /> repair now to stop further deterioration. The <br /> farm has been in the family for 45 years and <br /> has alot of meaning to us . <br /> b) The farm has alot of sentimental value as Elizabeth <br /> practically grew up on the farm, working many years <br /> in the fields , especially in tobacco. We want to <br /> raise our two children on the farm. <br />
