SE 1/4 of SW 1/4 , Section 9, T9N, R1OE
Town of Windsor
TAX PARCEL: 34--0910-093 -9830
PROPOSED USE: This site has been in continuous use as the Town' s
government services center (Town Hall., administrative offices,
garage, equipment storage and salt storage ) for 20 years. It was
zoned as C-2 , but when district standards were amended to make
governmental operations a conditional use , no conditional use
permit was obtained.
Additionally, since the understanding was that the Town's Use was
"grand fathered" , no C.U.P. ' s were obtained pertaining to the
building additions and new buildings that were built in the 1970s
and 1980s. This petition resulted from a routine review of
necessary permits for this project which discovered an apparent •
oversight that occurred many years ago.
In March 1993, 6 months of planning culminated in approval of a New
Town Hall by a 2-1 margin at a Special Town Meeting. The new town
hall building will be built adjacent to the existing building and
contained entirely within the property that is zoned C-2 . In
addition to providing administrative office space the new structure
will also house the relocated Northeast precinct office of the Dane
County Sheriff . (Lease approved by the County Board on April 15 ) .
The existing building will be remodeled to serve as gara,g ;pmc
per its original design.
The new building will occupy 3850 square feet ( building c• . ri )
and the site will have 120 total parking spaces .
This site was chosen for continued Town government open - )ns
because of its central location for Town functions and the fa- k, it
is existing public property and no additional property would need
to be removed from the Tax Roll .
i
