SZ i4
•
Rezone Application
John L. Asmuth Property
DNR Acquisition
The John L. Asmuth property, consisting of ±20 acres in the W1 of the NWT of
the NE1 of Section 26, R8N, T6E, is being split into two parcels. This land
division is being made so that the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
can purchase the area in the floodplain along with that portion of Black Earth
Creek that runs through the property.
The parcel to be purchased by the DNR contains approximately 3.12 acres. This
area has frontage on both banks of Black Earth Creek and will be incorporated
into the Black Earth Creek Fishery Area. The creek in this area is classified
as Class II trout water and contains wild brown trout and stocked rainbow
trout. Acquisition of this parcel will provide foot access for anglers.
Trout Unlimited sponsored a habitat improvement project on this stretch of
stream during 1991.
The remaining parcel will continue to be owned by the Asmuths. This parcel
will contain ±16.88 acres and is currently zoned A-1 Exclusive. This parcel
was existing prior to the adoption of the zoning ordinance. Improvements on
this parcel include a two story house, storage shed, and 2-car garage.
The present use of the property is rural residential.
The anticipated use of the property after the sale of land to the Department
of Natural Resources will not change.
