Boots, agent for Gladys
McGuire and Charlotte Knechtges, contains the McGuire Mound Group
( 47 DA-383 ) . The group consists of a rare hooked linear (one of
two that remain in the County) and an oval mound . No other mounds
are known to have existed at this site which was surveyed by the
Mounds Project on June 17, 1991 and has been cataloged by the State
Historical Society of Wisconsin (see attached map) .
In addition, Charles E. Brown indicates in his manuscripts (Box
21 ) that a village site was located at the NE, S and SW ends of the
drumlin that dominates the southern portions of this property.
There is presently no evidence that any of these sites have been
investigated by modern archeologists .
