CITY OF STOUGHTON ;rl E:,•,r Mjin Street
' re,uJ;;hten WI 5589
II,/i%;}r73-6677
October 12 , 1992
Mr. Tim Klongland, Clerk
Town of Dunkirk
650 S. VanBuren Street
Stoughton, WI 53589
Dear Tim:
Please be advised that the Common Council, City of Stoughton, revised
the Urban Service Area to include the Bunnell property. They have
gone on record encouraging development to East and South, and do not
object to the land division. We do not foresee this as an area that
would annex to the City any time in the near future. In fact, you
may have heard us express the fact that annexing developed property
has not always been in the best interest of the City because of the
cost to reconstruct streets, construct curb and gutter, etc.
We do not exercise extra territorial jurisdiction over zoning, and
there was some confusion for us because the first map we received was
a zoning map, and the map that was presented to the Planning
Commission was a certified survey, dividing the proposed piece of
property into five lots.
We have no desire to prevent you from gaining tax base to help offset
the cost of maintaining your streets.
I'm sorry for all of the confusion in this matter. I appreciate your
concern.
Sincerely,
-
41
Helen J. Johnson
Mayor
JJ:cjr
rw
,
j cc: Norbert Scribner, Dane Co.
