•
September 7, 1992
SEP 001992
RECEitiEI)
ZONING DW.
Dear Board Members :
Mr . Jones ' petition to rezone his 35 acres in order to make another
lot, for mortgage purposes, has us somewhat confused .
1 . When we wished to rezone some of our farm land, which is
immediately adjacent to the village limits of Mt . Horeb,
we were told that we had to present our petition to the
Town Planning Board before going to the Town Board .
Nothing was said about our being able to petition to the
County Zoning Commission.
2 . We were also told that there could only be one house on
not less than 35 acres .
Now Mr . Jones ' new petition appears to by pass the Town Planning
Board and the Town Board in requesting an additional lot on his 35
acres . He already has a house and outbuildings on this property.
We don 't understand how making another lot on the property would
help his mortgage unless he turns around and sells it for building
property. This would then put two houses on 35 acres . In fact his
petition is for a lot of two acres, more or less . The Town
guidelines specify no less than two acres may be zoned for a home.
Mr . Jones may consider it a conflict of interest if he had taken
his petition to the Town Planning Commission as he is a member of
that body. However, his original petition to rezone 35 acres of
farm land could be considered a conflict as the individual he
purchased the land from was the brother of the Chairman of the Town
of Blue Mounds Board . There was no real problem in getting this
passed . Shortly after this Mr . Jones was made a member of the
Planning Board and is now the first one to make a motion to deny
other rezoning . Now he is here to ask for further rezoning of his
land .
After the Town Board 's June meeting we asked them for a written
letter listing the reasons we were denied rezoning of our land and
we still haven 't received such a paper .
As far as we can tell, in denying our rezoning, Mr . Jones ' big
concern was that it would take land out of A-1 exclusive . His 35
acres joins ours to the north and west and was rezoned from A-1 to
A-2 and now he is asking for additional rezoning.
Sec . 10 . 126 A-2 Agriculture District was to . . . accommodate
agriculture use on parcels of less than 35 acres . Permitted uses
were for (a) agriculture uses and (b) single family detached
residence .
