Badger Road in the Town of
Madison. I request that C-2 Zoning be granted, effective upon the
completion of my purchase of said property through Robert Castleberg of
the Stark Realty Company. I have a signed purchase agreement for this
property, dated January 4, 1991, conditioned upon rezoning for use as a
commercial shop, museum, warehouse and residence within six months of
the agreement. Stark Realty holds my earnest money.
(a) I propose to build and operate a TV-Electronics Museum, including
an Electronics Hall of Fame in conjunction with my forty-three year old
TV and Electronics Service Business and my Communications Consulting
Service. Currently I have over 300 TVs, radios, computers, early fax
machines, audio and video reel-to-reel tape recorders, etc. Included is
the first TV sold to a consumer in Madison, 43 years ago. I plan to
provide free tours to supervised groups of area school children. Others
will pay a modest fee to offset the costs of operating the Museum
(b) Construction of the first portion of the museum is planned for the
summer of 1991. A building at the North end of the property 50 feet in
depth, with a frontage of 110 feet is planned for the first phase. The
50 foot dimension will be increased to 100 feet as the museum grows.
Construction of the Caretakers house with attached garage at the South
end of the property, adjacent to the current residence area, is
anticipated to take place in 1992.
(c) The approximately 31,000 square feet in this separated parcel is
immediately adjacent to the Walgreen warehouse on the North, and across
the Nob Hill Frontage Road from the Badger Bowl. This is previously
unbuilt-upon land in an area increasingly becoming commercial, with
convenient access from the Beltline via the existing Rimrock Road
interchange. The requested construction will result in a very modest
amount of increased vehicle traffic of possibly 20 to 30 cars per day.
The enclosed site plan shows the location of the main building, with a
dashed line to show the first phase rear wall. The conditional use for
a caretaker's house at the South end is also shown.
I will supply additional information upon request.
Sincerely yours,
4 40 oe". .
Carson E. Young, .
