RECLAMMATION PLAN
The parcel south of the existing quarry, (owned by Emden
A. and Laura S. Schey) , was to be excavated for topsoil and
clay material . This material was to be placed as capping
material for the City of Sun Prairie Landfill . The closure
procedures for this landfill had begun in late 1990, and some
grading and hauling activity had already taken place prior to
the violation notice of the Dane County Zoning Ordinance.
As revealed in the enclosed soil boring logs, there is
a deposit of topsoil and clay material to a depth ranging
from 2 .20 feet to approximately 4 . 5 feet . The enclosed Site
Plan reveals the existing and proposed contour elevations.
The construction schedule for the landfill closure
involves the placement of a clay cap followed by the
placement of the topsoil layer. It is estimated that the
topsoil and clay material could be excavated and hauled with
10 working days. After this material has been excavated and
hauled to the landfill site, the contractor will grade the
existing site to match the proposed contours.
The owner of the parcel has stated that the underlying
rock would be extracted within the next 5 to 7 years. After
such time the floor elevation of the quarry would have a
topsoil layer with vegetative cover.
