described in Petition *5026. He considered the house site to be well sited and indicated that the
Ice Age Trail organization had no objection to the proposed house site. They would, however, like
to relocate the access driveway to the south edge of the parcel rather than have it run along the
line fence on the north border of the Maurer farm. The aerial map, dated August 1991,clearly
indicates that the house site is included within the proposed trail corridor, and as I've been told,
that is frowned upon by members of the Dane County Greenspace Committee. The Maurer farm is
in the Farmland Preservation Program. Consider,if you will, the tremendous communication
problem that exists in this situation. How can folks, like the Maurers, learn about and
understand, much less deal with, this complex interplay between government and influential
private interests when the information changes continuously?
The last question raised concerned the letter of apposition from Barbara Keyes Beaton. The
Maurer family had no idea who Ms. Beaton was and why she might object to their petition. A
call to Anchor Property Management Ltd. put me in touch with Ron Beaton, owner of the
company. He and his wife object to the petition because they own a small parcel across from the
Maurer property on Timber Lane. They are concerned about anything that will destroy their
view across the valley on the Maurer farm. Mr. Beaton said he and his wife would withdraw
their objection to Petition *5026 if given assurances that the Glasser home would not interfere
with their view. Beaton's will build some time in the future. The Maurer family has been given
the Beaton's home address and phone number so discussion of this issue can begin. When the two
families view and walk the land they may find the proposed Maurer parcel located considerably
to the north of the Beaton property.
I hope the Zoning Committee finds this information useful in making their decision on Petition
*5026. I also hope after the decision is made on Petition *5026 I will feel County government
is representative and fair. Thank you for your time and attention.
Si erely,
(Cf7J-02d-e-aegid&
Copies: Members of Zoning and Natural Resources Anna M.
