Lane. When the draft of the legal papers came the strip was about 50'wide. We did not
approve of this request. We have now learned that Mr.Werner is thinking in terms of
a 1/4 mile wide corridor,30 to 40 acres of our land, which borders on Timber Lane. As
of August 14,when we received en aerial view map with the proposed trail corridor
drawn in,we estimate the land involved in the project to be 85 acres. We are unable to
comply with his request to move the access road to the proposed homesite because the
road would cut across a productive hayfield, something the Town Board would probably
not approve.
For these reasons,we have no interest in the proposals made by the people from the Ice
Age Trail. Please keep in mind that our request for rezoning-the parcel described-in
Petition*5026 is a family gift matter.
We urge you to approve our request so we can fulfill a lifelong dream for Elizabeth and
Johan to build their retirement home on the home farm. There will be no further
development of the land since by wills and trusts the farm will remain in the family.
We feel strongly that private and personal rights should prevail when stewardship of
this land has been the concern of our family for the past 45 years. Additionally, those
people living directly surrounding our property have indicated strong support for our
petition.
Sincerely,
ara Maurer
Thomas E.Maurer
` /
Elizabeth Maurer Glasser
Copies: Members,Dane County Zoning and Natural
Resources Committee
Jay Moretti,District 29 Supervisor
Bill Fleck,.Dane County Zoning
Norb Scribner,Dane County Land Division Review
Walter Haack,Cross Plains Town Chairman
Gary Werner,Dane County Project Coordinator
Ice Age Perk and Trail Foundation
Ms.Barbara Beaton
