Bartlett, Russell
To: Kim Banigan / 2
Subject: RE: 1618 Susan Lane, Guidance needed
Thank you for your time.
On 10/14/09 I submitted the zoning information (R-1A, Residence) to Mr. Aaron Krebs, 608-
266-4254, and to Mr. Troy Everson, 608-261-9750, to correct our records on ARCMAP and to
correct the records on Access Dane, respectively. I'll send copies of the information to
you today, 10/26/09, by US Postal Service mail. The records will be corrected and updated.
I inspected 1618 Susan Lane on 10/19/09, Dane County zoning permit #20090527, a two-car
garage addition to the existing single-family residence.
The location survey was done by Daniel V. Birrenkott, Wisconsin Land Surveyor, S-1531, on
9/16/09 to verify the minimum required setback of ten (10) feet to the left side lot line.
The actual setback is 12.5 feet.
The concrete floor had not been poured but the floor drain had been installed. I spoke to
Jim Meyerhofer, Madison/Dane County Public Health by phone and he stated that a gravity
flow drain from the garage floor to the outside grade was permitted but it was not to be
used for oil, gasoline, or other motor vehicle fluids. Snow melting and rain water
drainage are acceptable.
No evidence of a kennel operation, Section 10.01 (30) of the Dane County Code of Ordinances
(DCCO) .
The final inspection is scheduled by the owner when the project is completed, Section
10.25 (3) (b) of the DCCO.
Russell L. Bartlett, bartlett @co.dane.wi.us, 608-267-3960, Zoning Inspector, County of
Dane
Original Message
From: Kim Banigan [mailto:clerkcgtown @verizon.net]
Sent: Tuesday, October 13, 2009 8:33 AM
To: Bartlett, Russell
Subject: Guidance needed
Hi Russ,
I have a word of mouth report that a town resident is adding on to their
garage for the purpose of an animal rescue. They are at 1618 Susan Lane,
and Access Dane says they have 1.5 acres zoned A-2 and R-1, although the map
only shows R-1 and I can't figure out what is A-2. What should I do when I
only have word of mouth information like this? If they really have plans
for an animal rescue, I think it would be better to get in front it it now
than wait, but should I send a letter, or should it come from you since it
is a zoning issue?
Kim Banigan
Clerk, Town of Cottage Grove
4058 County Road N
Cottage Grove, WI 53527
Phone: (608) 839-5021
Fax: (608) 839-4432
www.tn.cottagegrove.wi.gov
1
