3926 Moe Road, P.O. Box 196
Mount Horeb, WI 53572
July 3, 1991
Shary Bipgard
Zonin and Natural Resources Comm.
Dane ounty Zoning Dept. - --
Room 116, City-County Building,
Madis n, WI 53709 -
Dear chairman and Committee Members: .
Ye have just received the notification of application for
rezone #5098. As. we are in Washington on business _.for_ the summer,
we wi 1 be unable to attend the public meeting scheduled for the
ninth of July. However, as the property in question immediately
adjoi s our farm at 3926 Moe Road, commonly known as Hungry Horee
Ranch, I wish to have the following statement entered into the
minut-s of .thF. aforementioned meeting;
cur plans for the future of Hungry Horse Ranch center on
conti uing its use as exclusively agricultural property. Not only
do we intend to. continue present operations involving crops, poultry
and h.rse boarding/training, . but we will soon be returning cattle
and hags to the farm in what may develop into a rather large-scale
opera 'ion utilizing the- land adjoining Moe Road and thus also in
• conta•t with (and upwind from) the land for which the rezone apoli-
catio has been filed. Although the hogs would probably not mind
a hou-e (or houses?) overlooking their feedlot, I suspect that the
house dwellers might not be happy with the location of their new
homes immediately adjacent to the hogs.
Y' e strongly urge all those involved to seriously consider
the p.tential problems construction of houses on the proposed rezone
site ight bring in the future. As far as we are concerned, our
land 's farmland, has always been farmland and is going to stay
farmland (with all its attendant odors and noise and run-off) for
gener-tions to come,
o one should be proceeding with this rezone unless they are
prepa ed to accept all future liability which might develops a
resul ' of: disgruntled .homeowners who are surprised to find that the
peaceful farm stretched out before. their living room windows is
not q iet and peaceful, does create frequent clouds of dust and
debri• , and definitely does not smell of roses.
Sincerely,
Al iam J. Reso p
' 7991 4aredith M. Reson 4
191.
4 Ll
