Wall Signs <br /> •A wall sign is defined as a sign mounted on and parallel to a building wall or other vertical building surface. <br /> Signs on the sides of a service station pump island roof structure shall be considered wall signs. <br /> Permitted Districts <br /> A-B Ag Business District LC-I Limited Commercial District <br /> B-I Local Business District M-1 Industrial District <br /> C-I,C-2 Commercial District <br /> Specific Regulations <br /> The maximum size and height of a wall sign is defined by the speed limit of the adjacent highway as follows: <br /> Road Speed(MPH) Maximum size(sq.ft.) Maximu m leight(ft) - <br /> 0-35 100 a(A"„ f 1 i S <br /> 36-45 200 -- 35 <br /> 45 300 50 <br /> ?(For buildings six stories or more in height a wall sign may also be located within 2D feet of the top of the building façade. <br /> )(There shall be no more than two such signs per building, except that a building on a zoning lot with two road frontages is allowed a maximum <br /> xof three wall signs and a building with more than two road frontages is allowed a maximum of 4 wall signs. <br /> >The maximum size and height of signs on zoning lots with two or more road frontages shall be determined by reference to the nearest <br /> ?<adjacent road which is not within the right-of-way of another road. <br /> ><There shall be no more than two wall signs on any one side of the building. <br /> .xWall signs shall be located only on the building containing the business advertised on the sign. <br /> .)<In the EXP-I Exposition district wall signs shall have a maximum size of 300 sq.ft. <br /> xFor a wall sign,the height shall be measured from the base of the building below the sign to the top of the sign face. The top of the sign may <br /> not be higher than the building on which it is mounted. <br /> XEach primary building housing a separate unaffiliated business on a parcel is allowed to have the total related signs as permitted by this <br /> ordinance. <br /> -X Businesses located in one building must share the total signs allocated to the building. <br /> x The total sign copy area of all on-premise signs related to a business shall not exceed the maximum permitted sign copy area. <br /> General Regulations <br /> 54,4o.sign shall use any word, phrase, symbol, shape, form, or character in such manner as to interfere with moving traffic, including signs <br /> which incorporate typical street-type or traffic control-type sign designs and colors. No sign may be installed at any location where by <br /> reason of its position, wording, illumination, size, shape, or color it may obstruct, impair, obscure, interfere with the view of, or be confused <br /> with,any official traffic control sign,signal or device. <br /> f sign may block or interfere with the visibility for ingress or egress of a driveway. All signs, except auxiliary signs, that are adjacent to <br /> driveway ingress or egress,shall provide a minimum of 6 feet of clearance between ground level and the bottom edge of the sign. <br /> —B uble deck signs,flashing or rotating lights on signs,and graphic signs are not permitted. <br /> xcept for time and temperature signs and electronic signs,no fluttering,undulating,rotating, or other moving signs shall be permitted. <br /> o sign may be located within a permanently protected green space area, a road right-of-way, an intersection vision clearance triangle, or <br /> installed on a roof. <br /> sV io sign,temporary or otherwise,shall be affixed to a tree or utility pole,fence or fence pole, or be painted on a stone. <br /> Illumination of signs must be designed so that the lighting element is shielded from view from any adjacent residence and from vehicular <br /> traffic. Neon and fiber-optic lighting and electronic signs are exempt from this regulation. <br /> cvS1-n trim is permitted on all signs and may be installed around the outside of the sign copy area. The square foot area of the trim shall not be <br /> greater than 25% of the permitted copy area of the sign. <br /> yrTfie supporting structure or bracing of a sign shall not be counted as a part of sign copy area unless such structure or bracing is made a <br /> part of the sign's message. <br /> The square foot total of all appendage sign copy areas shall be included with the sign copy area of the primary sign to provide the overall <br /> copy area of the sign. <br />
