AUGUST 9 , 1991 <br /> MEMBERS OF THE ZONING AND NATURAL RESOURCES COMMITTEE <br /> DANE COUNTY <br /> CHEROKEE PARK, INC . ( CPI ) REQUEST THE ZONING & NATURAL <br /> RESOURCE COMMITTEE TO PERMIT CPI TO REMOVE LAND <br /> (APPROXIMATELY 1/2 - 2 ACRES ) FROM THE WETLAND ZONING TO <br /> PERMIT THE ORDERLY DEVELOPMENT OF OUR 5TH ADDITION LANDS . <br /> THE EXACT SIZE OF THE PARCEL TO BE REMOVED FROM WETLAND <br /> ZONING CANNOT BE DETERMINED AT THIS TIME . <br /> OUR CORPORATION HAS BEEN UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT NONE OF <br /> THIS LAND WAS IN THE WETLANDS SINCE WE 'VE BEEN GROWING CORN <br /> IN THIS AREA FOR YEARS . <br /> THERE PRESENTLY IS A SMALL POND OF WATER THAT EXITSTS IN THE <br /> AREA (EAST OF THE NEWLY CONSTRUCTED PRELIMNARY ROAD ) BUT THIS <br /> IS MERELY RUN OFF WATER FROM SURROUNDING LAND THAT IS BLOCKED <br /> UNTIL WE CAN PUT IN THE PROPER DRAINAGE UNDER THE ROAD . <br /> DANE COUNTY WETLAND MAPS DID NOT SPECIFICALLY IDENTIFY THIS <br /> AREA AS A WETLAND . <br /> IN LATE 1990 I ASKED DNR OFFICIALS TO ADVISE ME IF AND WHERE <br /> ANY WETLANDS EXISTED . <br /> I WAS ADVISED BY DNR (CLARK AMUNDSEN ) THAT THIS WAS A MATTER <br /> FOR THE CORPS OF ENGINEERS AND THAT DNR WAS NOT INVOLVED IN <br /> THIS MATTER . <br /> I TALKED TO THE CORPS OF ENGINEERS REPRESENTATIVE , DALE <br /> PFEIFFLE - ( SEE LETTER DATED 12/29/90-CORPS OF ENGINEERS ) AND <br /> I WAS ADVISED THAT THE ROAD WAS PERMISSABLE UNDER THE <br /> EXEMPTION CLAUSE . <br /> I BELIEVE HR . BILL FLECK, DANE COUNTY ZONING ADMINISTRATOR, <br /> THEN REQUESTED A STUDY OF THE AREA BY DNR WHICH NOW HAS BEEN <br /> COMPLETED AND SOME OF THE AREA WAS THEN DESIGNATED AS A <br /> WETLAND . <br /> I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO OBTAIN A MAP FROM DNR IDENTIFYING <br /> EXACTLY WHERE THE WETLANDS START . <br /> AT THIS TIME IT 'S MY BELIEF THAT ONLY A SMALL PORTION OF OUR <br /> LAND, THAT WE WOULD BE DEVELOPING, COULD BE INVOLVED IN THE <br /> WETLAND . I ESTIMATE THIS TO BE ABOUT 1/2 ACRE TO 2 . 0 ACRES . <br />
