Rau, P.E.
— Director of Public Works
March 12, 2016
Dane County Zoning and Land Regulation Committee
c/o Mr. Brian Standing
210 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., #116
Madison, WI 53703
Regarding: Rezone 10926 for Bucky's Portable Toilets, Inc.
Committee Members:
Please be advised that the Village of Oregon has reviewed the rezone application for
Bucky's Portable Toilets, Inc. Thank you for notifying the Village of this application.
The Village is in support of the requested removal of deed restrictions for the subject
property, but does have a concern regarding the aesthetic impacts of the proposed outdoor
storage of portable toilets. The subject property is located in an area designated in the
Village future plans for concealing outdoor storage. Specifically, the Village is
requesting that a condition of approval be added to require a continuous landscaped
buffer hedge along the eastern and southern perimeter of the outdoor storage area. The
applicant appeared at our February Plan Commission meeting, and agreed to provide
such a landscaped screen.
The Village would request the use of Black Hills spruce and/or arborvitae to attain a
mature height of 8 or more feet. These plants maintain their lower branches for many
years and both do well in sunny locations. Our experience is that arborvitae does well
when planted in a row 4 feet apart, while black hills spruce do well with a spacing of
approximately 10 feet.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please call me at 835-6290.
Sincerely,
RECEIVED
,______( . , A -/A-----
Jeffrey S.
