July 10, 1989 -George Weir set a Dane County monument by single proportional measurement between the NE and NW corners of Section 12. The true corner position has been in doubt in old survey records Vol. 1, Pg 219 and Vol. 5, Pg 500 & 522. They show that the corner was established by Hough in 1855 and this position later rejected by Drake in 1870 who established the corner equal distance between the NE and NW corners. The corner position by Drake also accepted by Graves in 1880. I did not dig for this corner because records show this corner was not set in the concrete pavement by Hintze because he was not sure of its position. (See Vol. 5, Pg 523 old survey records.)
