Chapter <br /> 10.74 SPECIFIC REGULATIONS FOR VARIOUS TYPES OF SIGNS. Signs of <br /> various types shall be installed according to the regulations set forth below: <br /> (5) Ground on-premise signs shall have a maximum size of 32 square feet where the speed <br /> limit on the adjacent highway is 35 miles per hour or less, 64 square feet where the <br /> maximum permissible speed on the adjacent highway is between 36 and 45 miles per hour, <br /> and 96 square feet where the speed limit on the adjacent highway is more than 45 miles per <br /> hour. Such a sign may be erected to a height not to exceed 12 feet where the speed limit on <br /> the adjacent highway is 35 miles per hour or less, 16 feet where the speed limit on the <br /> adjacent highway is between 36 and 45 miles per hour, and 20 feet where the speed limit et,L <br /> on the adjacent highway is more than 45 miles per hour. There shall be no more than one <br /> such sign for each road frontage and the sign shall be located not more than 200 feet from l - <br /> the site advertised on the sign, except that signs for residential or commercial plats, Limited �d <br /> Family Business and recreational facilities such as golf courses and camp grounds may be <br /> installed at the property entrance locations even though the signs might be more than 200 <br /> feet from the site advertised. <br /> (19)Pylon signs shall have a maximum size of 100 square feet where the speed limit on the <br /> adjacent highway is 35 miles per hour or less, 200 square feet where the maximum <br /> permissible speed on the adjacent highway is between 36 and 45 miles per hour, and 300 <br /> square feet where the speed limit on the adjacent highway is more than 45 miles per hour. <br /> Such a sign may be erected to a height not to exceed 20 feet above the centerline of the <br /> adjacent highway at the location of the sign, where the speed limit on the adjacent highway <br /> is 35 miles per hour or less, 35 feet above the centerline of the adjacent highway at the <br /> location of the sign, where the speed limit on the adjacent highway is between 36 and 45 <br /> miles per hour, and 50 feet above the centerline of the adjacent highway at the location of <br /> the sign, where the speed limit on the adjacent highway is more than 45 miles per hour. <br /> There shall be no more than one such sign per parcel and the sign shall be located not more <br /> than 200 feet from the site advertised on the sign. <br /> 10.75 CALCULATION OF HEIGHT REGULATIONS. <br /> (5) For ground mounted signs, except billboards, directory or pylon signs,the height shall <br /> be measured from ground level beneath the sign to the top edge of the sign. <br /> (7) For a pylon sign, the height will be measured from the elevation of the centerline of <br /> the adjacent road to the top of the sign. <br /> 10.76 DESIGN REQUIREMENTS. <br /> (1) Illumination of signs must be designed so that the lighting element is shielded from <br /> view from any adjacent residence and from vehicular traffic. Neon and fiber-optic lighting <br /> and electronic signs are exempt from this regulation. <br /> (2) No sign shall use any word, phrase, symbol, shape, form, or character in such manner <br /> as to interfere with moving traffic, including signs which incorporate typical street-type or <br /> traffic control-type sign designs and colors. No sign may be installed at any location where <br /> by reason of its position, wording, illumination, size, shape, or color it may obstruct, <br /> impair, obscure, interfere with the view of, or be confused with, any official traffic control <br /> sign, signal or device. <br /> [History: 10.76 rep. &recr., Sub. 2 to O.A. 6, 1989-90,pub. 09/21/90. ] <br /> Page 3 <br />
