TOWNSHIP OF ROXBURY <br /> JEROME WILHELM, ASSESSOR <br /> 521 WATER ST. <br /> PRAIRIE DU SAC, WI 53578 <br /> Aug. 9, 1990 <br /> TO: DANE COUNTY PLANNING AND ZONING <br /> RE: #874 - BRIAN ROELKE APPLICATION FOR CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT <br /> In response to the question concerning the second dwelling on the property <br /> owned by Mr. Roelke, there is evidence from the assessing records that this <br /> dwelling has been there and in use since the early 1940 's. During the 2nd <br /> World War when Badger Army Ammunition plant was in operation , every small <br /> building was converted into living quarters for the Badger employees. This <br /> dwelling was originally a farm shed which was made into an apartment for just <br /> such a use. According to the records and other verbal information I collected <br /> during the assessment process, this 2nd dwelling fits into this situation. <br /> Since the Roelkes have owned the property, they have improved the apartment <br /> and it remains rented at this time. <br /> I have enclosed copies of the earliest appraisal cards made in 1977. By <br /> examining them it is clear that the date of construction was in the early <br /> 1940 's. Since the building was rated at 50% residual in 1977, this indicates <br /> that it obviously was not new in 1977 but probably about 30 or 35 years old <br /> based on depreciation tables used in the assessment process. <br /> For what it 's worth I 've also enclosed all of the appraisal cards for the <br /> property in question.
