j� <br /> tp. <br /> BM890619 <br /> June /9 , 1989 <br /> The regular meeting was called to order by Chairman Eugene <br /> Skaar at 8 : 00 P .M. All Board members were present . <br /> The minutes of the last regular meeting were read and <br /> approved. <br /> A motion was made by TN/MK to add the approval for the <br /> truck equipment bid to the agenda . Motion carried . <br /> A copy of a letter written by Kris Rudolph to Walter Olson <br /> Jr. and signed by many residents of American Heritage asking <br /> that there not be any commercial development at the entrance <br /> to American Heritage was received and has become a part of <br /> the American Heritage file . <br /> A letter of thanks was received from Shari Mackesy for the <br /> Board action in lowering the speed limit on Hope-Vilas Rd . <br /> The zone change from M-1 to A-1 for town property on Ridge <br /> Road was discussed. Jim Rothman asked for an explanation of <br /> the zoning which is now on the property. Mr . Skaar gave a <br /> history of the property. The Planning committee had <br /> recommended a change from M-1 To A-1 . A motion was made by <br /> MK/SK to proceed with the zone change request from M-1 to A- <br /> 1 . Motion carried. The hearing at the County level will be <br /> the second Tuesday in August . <br /> Atty. Mike Cassidy appeared before the Board with a first <br /> draft of an ordinance which would adopt some of the State <br /> Statutes regulating the use of fire arms . Mr . Cassidy <br /> reviewed each Statute which would apply and be adopted by the <br /> ordinance . County police Sgt . Branley urged that the Town <br /> handle any violations of this type at the local level , <br /> because the County cannot handle these situations effectively <br /> thru the D.A. Office . Ray Schrank and Sharie Lord spoke in <br /> favor of adopting such an ordinance . Laurence Mucher Butch <br /> Falker , LuAnn Kau, James Smolark and Jeff Smith were in <br /> opposition . In a show of hands , 27 for adoption , 20 against <br /> adoption and 14 abstaining . A motion was made by TN/SK to <br /> adopt the State Statutes for local enforcement . Motion <br /> carried. Atty. Cassidy will rewrite the ordinance and it <br /> will be acted upon at a later date . <br /> Joe Barber and Dan Gillette presented a petition to the <br /> Board requesting that three "Stop Signs" be placed on <br /> Damascus Trail to discourage drivers from using the street as <br /> a short cut between Vilas Road and Hwy BB . They stated that <br /> the speed limit is not heeded and that there are many <br /> children in the area who may get hurt . A motion was made by <br /> MK/SK to contact John Norwell of Dane County Hwy. Dept . to <br /> see what recommendations he would have to cover the <br /> situation. Motion carried. AUG 1989 <br /> The water problem on Bonnie Ave . was discussed . It was <br /> —decided that a portion of Bonnie Ave . would have to be <br /> reconstructed. A motion was made by RG/MK to contact Town <br /> and Country Engineering to make a study and prepare plans ZUNI u WV <br /> which would help the situation.
