Bisgard, Chairperson
Agriculture, Environment & Land Records Committee
Room 116
City-County Building
Madison, WI 53709
Dear Shary:
The Dane County Traffic Safety Commission directed me to
forward a letter to you on safety concerns which they have with
the siting of a proposed dog track facility in Section 9 , Town
of Rutland.
The concerns of the Commission revolve around possible safety
problems that could be created on the adjacent town, state, and
county highways, and their intersections because of a possible
inadequacy of the highways to safely handle the peak traffic
loads generated by the proposed dog track facility.
The Commission indicated that the developer should be asked to
provide a detailed traffic study which would consist of
origin/destination and projected peak traffic loads. The
developer should also provide a before-and-after development
capacity analysis for the existing adjacent highway systems,
and cite what improvements and traffic handling requirements
may be needed to accommodate the increased traffic.
We feel this additional study information is needed to insure
that safe and adequately planned and constructed roads and
intersections are provided, and safe traffic control measures
are employed prior to commencement of the dog track facility.
S c4 r
r I
44 I ' i)
Jj :
n A.
