mid-summer , hopefully in time to acquire final approval by all
agencies and to begin operations this fall .
3 . REASONS WHY THE PROPERTY IS SUITABLE FOR PROPOSED USE
Included in this material is a general description of the
area that, hopefully, will become the proposed airport . The
information will show that one of the applicants, Lee Forester ,
is the owner of a 165 acre farm situated in Sec . 36 T9N, R12E,
Dane County. The farm is approximately one mile by one-half mile
and is located between County Road TV on the north and Clarkson
Road on the south . The eastern border is formed by York Heights
Road and the property abuts the Robert Bradley farm to the west .
Situating the airport on the above-described site makes it
eminently suitable for airport use: the aerial approaches to the
landing strip do not require flight over any residential or other
buildings or stuctures; all public roads are situated such that
over-flight allows substantial clearance; the physical property
itself is reasonably level and suitable for airplane use , easily
allowing for the placement of a 3000 ' by 70' runway; the aircraft
to be flown from the strip are general aviation light aircraft ,
well-suited to grass and easily capable of operating from a
runway one-half the proposed length . Finally, the land where the
airport will be located will not experience any change as a
result of its use as an airstrip. There will be no permanent
changes to the land and it may be converted back to agricultural
use at any time with no additional expense .
4 . DESCRIPTION OF LAND USE WITHIN 300 FEET OF THE
PROPERTY PROPOSED FOR A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT
A perusal of the survey platt will show that , with the
exception of the eastern border , the land within 300 feet of the
landing strip is all agricultural land, either in production or
in the "set-aside" program.
Regarding the eastern border , the landing strip parallels
York Heights Road which serves as the access road for five homes
located on a ridge to the east of the airport . These homeowners ,
as well as all others within approximately a two square mile
distance of the proposed airport, have been personally notified
by either Stephen Hill or myself (Alvin Whitaker ) and advised of
the planned airport and their approval sought . Every person
approached stated no objection and willingly signed the petition
of approval (see the petition included herewith) .
Finally, it should be noted that of the five houses situated
to the east of the proposed airport , three will be operating
aircraft from same .
Your careful consideration of this application for a
