•
12/6/88
Mr. Bill Fleck, Director
Agriculture, Environment, and
Land Records Committee
Dane County Zoning Department
City-County Building
Madison WI 53709
Dear Mr. Fleck,
On December 13, 1988 a public hearing has been scheduled to consider
Petition #4391 concerning the fate of a ten acre parcel of land in the
Town of Blooming Grove. This petition for a zoning change to the 10
acres was filed by a prospective buyer, Dr. Tim Docter, and by Mr.
David Renaud of Mortgage Survey Associates. The land is in T7N R1OE of
Section 32 and is currently owned by Mr. Reginald Kilps.
The zoning change requested would change the land from its Al
exclusive category to a category permiting housing development. I fre-
quently go by car or bicycle to this lovely area and would regret its
loss. As a resident of Madison who has witnessed the "suburban"
development of many farm and wilderness areas in Dane County, I urge
the Zoning committee to deny zoning request #4391.
The plot of land in question has six Indian mounds and represents one
of the few remaining heavily forested areas along the shores of Lake
Waubesa. In my travels to the area, I have enjoyed the natural beauty
of the county Lake Farm Park and view the nearby 10 acres as integral
to it. A zoning change leading to the development of the parcel would
detract from the sensation of wilderness so wonderfully accessible to
Madison residents.
At a time when various environmental advocacy groups, such as The
Nature Conservancy, try to preserve Wisconsin's natural heritage by
purchasing forest areas in Dane Co. and elsewhere, it would be a shame
for the 10 acres to be rezoned. Thank you for considering my concerns
in this matter.
Sincerely,
Cann
Cindy Koschmann
1157 Emerald St.
Madison, WI 53715
cc.
