December 5, 1988
Mark Porter
1122 Petra Place
Madison, WI 53713
Township of Rutland
Planning Commission
I would like to purchase a 37 acre parcel of land located in section 20 of Rutland
Township from Mr. Carl Bryant. The land is half of the Bryant 81 acre farm. The location
is adjacent to highway 14, bordered by Waterman Road on the North and Old Stage Road
on the South. The land in question is primarily wooded, roughly 23 acres. The balance,
about 14 acres is cropland along with a small amount of wetland. It is currently zoned
A-1. The 37 acre parcel is outlined in yellow on the aerial map and plat map, the balance
of the Bryant farm is marked in blue.
The cropland would remain in production agriculture and in the Wisconsin Farmland
Preservation Program. I would like to build one house and possibly one tool shed on the
land. I would like to build the house in the wooded area, roughly in the center of the
parcel. I have outlined a rough circle indicating the proposed location. The location is
contingent upon not only zoning but also a successful percolation test for the septic
system. At this point I have no intentions of raising livestock beyond cats and dogs; the
land is not currently fenced.
According to the County Zoning Office, a minimum of 1 acre of land would need to be
rezoned to the A-2 designation to allow the construction of a house. I would like to
rezone 1.5 acres.
I would like the commission to consider my proposal and approve the rezoning of acres
to the A-2 designation.
Thank you very much for your attention.
Sincerely yours,
Mark Porter
