Your site plans
show approximately 8,500 lineal feet of ditches to be dredged, located partially within the regulatory
Flood Zone (Zone A General Floodplain) and adjacent or within Wetlands.
Dredging in the Floodplain is permitted under Chapter 17 Floodplain Zoning and Chapter 11, Shoreland-
Wetland Zoning, Dane County Code of Ordinances. You must agree to the following:
1. Removal of dredged spoils to uplands (non-Floodplain and non-Wetlands areas) is preferred.
If this is not possible, spread no more than 4 to 6 inches (widely distributed) of dredged spoils on
tilled agricultural land in Floodplain areas ONLY. No filling permitted in Wetlands.
2. No obstructions to flow of floodwaters through the ditches.
3. No increase beyond the original width of the ditches.
4. No relocation of the ditches.
5. No new culverts, tiles, or crossings.
6. Please contact Dane County Land and Water Resources (608-224-3730)to obtain a Shoreland
Erosion Control Permit, if required.
7. Comply with all ACOE and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources regulations and obtain all
required permits for work within navigable waterways and/or wetlands.
Best Regards,
Hans Hilbert
Assistant Zoning Administrator
