1^14;I c_ce o in 12- I - 20 140
Pck. (lo't8/cuP a3G3
Daryl Good
354 Haugen Rd.
Edgerton, Wi 53534
608 751-7576
To all concerned:
I am writing this in regards to the proposed Concrete Batch Plant. Petition: Rezone 11078
CUP 2367. Zoning Amendment: C-2 commercial District to A-2(4) Agriculture
District. Section 27 in the Albion district.
I am a property (home owner) across the road from this proposed site. My wife and I
purchased this home 8 years ago and have made it our home. We have two sons, daughter and
two grandkids. One son still resides with us and we host many weekly family dinners and
gatherings every weekend. Since I purchased this home I have devoted my time, my life, to
improving the home, landscape, and other buildings. I have planted trees, bushes, and recently
began to raise 25 Chickens for a hobby. We have enjoyed the sunsets and nearby wetlands
across the road that each year has allowed us to witness growing families of wildlife that some
has come into our yard or the field across the road (now the proposed site) We have returned
turtles to the Marsh, watched baby Wood ducks make the trek, (with some help across the road)
Geese, Ducks, Sandhill Cranes, Turkeys, Deer & Foxes.
With this said, I want to express how important it is for us to PREVENT this Proposal to go
through. It's simply the wrong location for many reasons.
My drinking water comes from a well and is supplied from a large aquifer. I am concerned that
the pollutions (a fact) that comes from these facilities will pollute the Wetlands, Marsh, Air and
Water around it. I am directly down wind of this area and it's a fact that Inhaling the dust and
raw materials from a plant can cause a number of health hazards. Inhaling cement dust can cause
nosebleeds, burning, irritation and damage to eyes and skin. It can cause difficulty breathing and
inhaling the cement dust is believed to cause cancer. Concrete batching plants are facilities that
combines various ingredients to form concrete. Some of these ingredients are water, air, sand
rocks, gravel, fly ash, silica, slag and cement. Silica exposure (a fact) can lead to lung injuries,
including Silicosis and lung cancer. Silicosis is a disabling, deadly and incurable lung disease.
Conclusion:
What is going to happen with water run-off from this site? Where will the pollutants
go? They will drain directly into the wetlands located within 50 yards of this proposed site
possibly putting an end to the inhabitants of these wetlands that have been here for many years.
What is going to happen to the air I breathe? What is happening to my property value having a
polluting facility 100 yards from my home? Will I need to mow my lawn with an air
respirator? Consider the added traffic affecting this area already busy from the nearby restaurant
& gas station. How do I protect my grandchildren from the pollutants these plants produce?
Keep them indoors during the summer? How do I take them for their 1st bike rides on the public
road? The road will become too dangerous from the additional truck traffic continuously driving
past my home. This road is used by many, many bicyclists during the summer months. This
Proposal will affect myself, my family, our quality of life. There are many other areas close by
that would better benefit a plant of this kind. Possibly not affecting anyone.
