Schutte, Kristine
From: alanmurdoch@comcast.net
Sent: Friday, September 12, 2008 1:04 PM
To: Schutte, Kristine
Cc: Schroeckenthaler, Scott; Lane, Roger
Subject: RE: meeting of 9/6
Kris,
Thank you for responding. I did speak with Scott and he was helpful. I will be meeting
with him in the next week or so.
We love our (second) home. We are retired teachers and the house is our nest egg; as
opposed to stocks and bonds that were beyond our means. The second home is critical
as FEMA has turned their collective back. Taking a LOAN from FEMA means federal
insurance even after we raise the property. The loans did not seem like a bargain
at a high interest rate. There appears to be the Federal Government plan of 'one size
fits all. ' Government appears to view people as individuals at election time only.
(My wife and I share 65 years of service to special needs children. Our service means
zero and our tax dollars provide little in an extraordinary time in our lives as senior
citizens. )
I would very much appreciate any information you can provide from the meeting.
Bridget & Alan P. Murdoch
217 S. Chestnut
Arlington Hts Ill 60005
Any information regarding contractors or other support personnel for assistance with the
disaster would be appreciated.
Thank You,
Alan P. Unfortunately, there's no county or town money
> or programs available to help you. To qualify for any federal assistance, you
> need to register with FEMA (not make any application for funds, as I understand
> it, just register as having had flood damage) . The FEMA number is
> 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) , or you can register online at www.fema.gov. You need to
> give FEMA your Social security number, description of losses, insurance
> information, directions to the damaged home, and telephone #.
> Please let me know if you want us to mail out a packet of the brochures
> I 'collected' at the meeting on Saturday.
> Good luck,
> Kris Schutte
> Assistant Zoning Administrator
> Dane County Zoning Division
> Department of Planning and Development
> 608.266. 9084
> schutte @co.dane.wi.us
> Original Message
> From: alanmurdoch @comcast.net [mailto:alanmurdoch @comcast.net]
> Sent: Monday, September 08, 2008 4 :21 PM
> To: Schutte, Kristine
> Subject: meeting of 9/6
1
