RESULTS
Site Conditions
The Glacier Valley Estates property is bounded on the north by Valley View Road and on
the west, south and east by private property holdings. The property is dominated by Kentucky
Bluegrass (Poa pratensis),Bromus inermis(Hungarian brome) and Reed Canary Grass (Phalaris
arundinacea). The vegetation on site has also been altered from recent mowing.
Relief and lrannage
The topography of the site is very gently rolling with slopes ranging from 1-12 percent. The
internal drainage of the site flows from west to east.
WWI Map
The Wisconsin Wetland Inventory map of the area (Figure 2) does not show any wetlands
on the investigated property.
Soils
Soils mapped in the Dane County Soils Survey (Figure 3) include non-hydric Dodge silt
loam, NIcHenry silt loam,Plano silt loam, St. Charles silt loam and hydric (wetter soils as inclusions)
Troxel silt loam.
Weliand.r
No wetlands were found on the Glacier Valley Estates Property (Figure 4).
•
Uplands
The uplands are highly degraded and are dominated by weedy upland grasses and forbs, including
Poa pralensis(Kentucky blue grass),Bromus inermis(Hungarian brome), and Phalaris arundinacea(Reed _
Canary Grass). Most soils in the upland area were identified as well-drained silt loam.
DISCUSSION
No wetlands were found on the Glacier Valley Property. Although Data Point 2 did contain
hydrophytic vegetation, the supporting hydrology and soils was not found during our investigation
or previous investigations (Appendix F).
Applied Ecological Services, Inc.
:DES Project#06-0156 Page 4
