Now it is 1986 and we have not
completed the task for even the agricultural districts .
I have decided to submit the ordinance amendment
concerning the A-2 districts which the former Ag committee
had previously supported unnanimously. As you may recall,
the purpose was to allow Town review before a property owner
could automatically divide A-2 lands (up to 35 acres ) into
one-half acre parcels as is now the case . In addition, to
accommodate the concerns of several towns who objected to the
unlimited livestock rule on A-2 parcels over 5 acres in size,
I am adding a conditional use for this purpose . ----.
The conditional use requirement for unlimited livestock
on 5 to under 35 acres of A-2 land is directed towards the
hobby farmer who often has little practical experience in
handling livestock . Two requirements of the conditional use
are that the applicant have an appropriate manure management
plan and that the soil erosion rate be maintained at T or
less, according to the County Conservationist and SCS
standards . If the committee has any doubt as to whether or
not the applicant is complying, technical assistance may be
requested .
This amendment will be before the committee at the June
public hearing.
Yours truly,
