The system was designed to serve a three-bedroom
house, and consists of a 1 , 000 gallon septic tank and 750 square
feet of seepage bed. At the time of my July 10 evaluation, there
was effluent ponded from 56 to 66 inches below grade in the vent
pipe of the seepage bed. This may be an indication of gradually
decreasing absorptive capabilities . There were no external signs
of system failure evident at the exact time of my inspection.
The septic tank should be pumped at least once every three
years for adequate maintenance.
There are no records for the private sewage system serving
the barn. If this system receives human wastes , it was installed
