TOWN of DUNN
OFFICE OF TOWN CLERK
4156 C.T.H. B
MCFARLAND, WI 53558
February 25, 1983
Dane County Zoning Department
Agriculture, Environment & Zoning Committee
Room 316 City-County Building
Madison, WI 53709
pear Committee Members:
On February 22, 1983 the Dunn Town Board, on the recommendation of
the Dunn Plan Commission, considered Dane County Zoning Petition 2975.
This petition, by David Nelson, requested a change in use of property
on Rutland Dunn Town Line Road from A-1 to C-2 for the purpose of parking
trucks.
Both Mr. Nelson and Town Officials have serious concerns about such a
significant change in zoning for this purpose. In fact, the Town has
seen several such requests in the past years. The board has often attached
deed restrictions to the approval of these rezonings, but has some
reluctance in continuing this practice.
The Dunn Board suggests that the committee consider using conditional
use permit for uses such as those proposed by Mr. Nelson. In areas
where adjacent housing is not a problem, or if current zoning does not
predict future residential use, the parking of trucks may not pose a
problem.
The Board suggests that you study the problem and hold the matter of
petition 2975 in abeyance to allow Mr. Nelson to continue in business
until the question is decided. We'll be glad to be of help if you wish.
The board further offers the observation that many farmers now have such
equipment. They are in violation of the Zoning Ordinances conducting normal
farming business. Perhaps a new look at allowed equipment for A-1 zoning
should be considered.
Yours truly,
64-11-./c. %I cam'
Sharon G. Hutchins
Clerk
4
SGH/mf
