GLASS CARVINGS
Division of Arlance Inc.
4240 Acker Road
Madison, WI 53704
February 22, 1984 608-241-8111
Dane County Zoning Commission
c/o Zoning Division.
Room 116
City County Building
Madison, Wisconsin. 53709
To whom it may concern;
I am writing this letter in reference to the application for
rezoning for the purpose of issuance of a beer license at
4230 Acker Road Madison, Wi. 53704.
My place of business is located at 4240 Acker Road, next to
Mr. Skalitzky's current business of United R V.
My wife and I own a glass business and recently moved into
our location last October, 19830 We also spent thousands of
dollars to MG&E bringing electricity to the building as it
is a new structure. The reason I bring this up is to show
that even though we rent this location we had every intention
of making it a long term commitment.
When we first heard about Mr. Skalitzky's application for a
liquor license we were opposed to it and voiced our opposition
at the Town of Burke meeting of January 3, 1984. Also at the
meeting a list was passed around for everyone in attendance
to give their name and address. Days after the meeting was
held we were told that the request for liquor license was
refused and that Mr. Skalitzky was now going to apply for
a beer license. On January 17, 1984 I attended another Town
of Burke meeting. At this meeting no participation from the
public was allowed. After discussion by the board Stephanie
Jensen made a motion to approve the beer application. There
was no seconds to that motion from any other member there.
At that time the request was denied. I left that meeting
thinking the matter was over. Evidently I was wrong.
On February 14, 1984, while I was out of town on a business
trip, I found out a meeting was held before the Dane County
Zoning Commission because the Town of Burke changed their
mind and approved the beer license application.
As a local businessman and having signed the list for attending
the January 3rd meeting, I thought notification of this change
would have been made by the Town of Burke. Again I was mistaken.
