CALLAWAY
Area Code 608 DANIEL P. DUNN
257-7663
257-7664
March 14, 1984
Dane County Agriculture,
Environment and Zoning Committee
ATTN: Mary D. Weisensel, Chairperson
Room 116 , City County Building
210 Monona Avenue
Madison, WI 53709
RE: Proposed Country and Western Bar
at Intersection of Acker Road and Highway 51
Dear Ms, Weisensel:
I was surprised and somewhat dismayed this morning to find
out that the date for voting on the proposed conditional use has
been moved up from March 27th to March 14th and, therefore, I
apoligize for trying to put this information before you without
adequate time for gathering complete statistics. It' s my
understanding that the only request made to the State Highway
Department came from Mr. Skalitzky, and there is a letter which
he will be furnishing to you dated March 5th, 1984 , regarding
the accidents in that particular area for the year 1983.
I made contact yesterday morning with the State Highway
Department and obtained the following information for the years
1981 and 1982. The computer read out sheets show that on the
stretch of State Highway 51 from Highway 19 intersection to 2. 2
miles south of Acker Road, there occurred 42 accidents with 27
total injuries and one fatality. In 1982 , that same stretch of
road shows a total of 34 accidents, 14 people injured and 1
fatality.
It is my further understanding that information is being
furnished by Paul Rapp' s office regarding accidents at the
intersection of County Trunk CV and Acker Road. A perusual of
the Department of Transportation files this morning reveals
there were numerous citizen complaints to the Department of
Transportation regarding that particular area in 1983 and 1984.
I do hope that the shifting of the date from March 27th to
March 14th does not inhibit or prevent a dissemination of
important materials and statistics to the committee.
ez.eP az sz
