Box 7877
Madison,WI 53707-7877
Mr. Dale Houston
Route 1
Cottage Grove, WI 53527
Dear Mr. Houston:
This is in response to your telephone call of March 7. You were in our
office several weeks ago and at that time, you stated that you were proposing
to develop an amusement park near Holiday Inn #2 just off of USH 12. Access
to the park would be via Long Drive which intersects USH 12 just east of
the interchange of USH 12 and IH 90.
Long Drive intersects Highway 12 at a point just east of where the taper
from the ramp off IH 90 ends. USH 12 is a divided roadway at this point, and
a median crossover exists to provide access to the westbound lane of Highway 12
from Long Drive.
A paved shoulder is in place on Highway 12 through this intersection.
The 1981 traffic volume on USH 12 was 3360 vehicles per day in each direction.
We have no counts on Long Drive.
At some future date, when USH 12 is made a four-lane highway, right-of-way
is available to relocate the Long Drive intersection further east, approxi-
mately 400 feet. This would allow for more space between the off ramp from
IH 90 and the first access point. I wish to emphasize, however, that this
construction is not currently planned.
Since
LeRoy Besler, P.E.
District Planning & Assistance Supervisor
