OFFICE TELEPHONE
608-846-3800
TOWN OF VIENNA
Office of Clerk
5270 NORWAY GROVE ROAD• DEFOREST,WIS. 53532
March 27, 1984
Dane County Zoning Dept.
Room 116, City County Building
210 Monona Avenue
Madison, Wisconsin 53709
Re: Conditional Use # 375
Dear Sirs:
The Vienna Town Board met on March 22, 1984 . One item on the
adjenda for that meeting was a public hearing on a request by Mr. Keith
Nordness for a conditional use permit (#375) to allow construction of
a tavern.
At the hearing the Board received a petition with fourteen names
which opposed the proposed conditional use permit. The Board also
received comments from eleven persons at the hearing which were opposed.
The only person speaking in favor at the hearing was Mr. Nordness.
The general oponion of those opposing the permit was that a bar and
supperclub already exist within one half mile of this location and that
a third tavern was located within one mile. It was also noted that three
other businesses also are licensed to sell carryout malt beverages
within one half mile of this location. The Board was told that those in
opposition felt that public safty would be endangered in the area by
allowing another tavern and that other future uses in the area would be
discouraged by the large number of businesses which were allowed to
sell and serve beer and liquor.
The Board voted to oppose conditional use permit # 375 on the following
grounds: that public safty would be indangered by the addition of one
more tavern in this enterchange of the interstate, that the Town Plan
for development of diversified businesses would be impaired, and that
an adjoining property (K.O.A. Campground) would suffer substancial damages
due to additional late night noise and traffic. It was the feeling of
the Board that Conditional Use -Standards one, two, and three would apply
in their opposition to this request.
- The Town of Vienna asks that the zoning committee deny the proposed
request under the reasons stated above. Thank you. RECEIVED
Sin rely, MAR 29 1984
‘,4DANE COUNTY
7' ZONING DEPT.
Robert Pulvermacher/ Vienna Town Clerk
