Federal Emergency Management Agency usNn sc°4 Washington, D.C. 20472 ►-.....,I'.-4.
AUG 042014 `
DANE COUNTY
E;LCU i IVC Oi cICE
Honorable Joe Parisi IN REPLY REFER TO CASE NO.: 14-05-3937A
Dane County Executive Community:Dane County, Wisconsin
City County Building,Room 421 Community No.: 550077
210 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard Map Panel Affected: 55025C0832G
Madison, WI 53703 Map Effective Date: January 2, 2009
219-65-1
Dear Mr. Joe Parisi:
This responds to a request dated March 31, 2014, that the Department of Homeland Security's
Federal Emergency Management Agency(FEMA) determine whether the structure located on
the property described below is within a Special Flood Hazard Area(SFHA), an area subject to
inundation by the flood having a 1-percent chance of being equaled or exceeded in any given
year(base flood). This property was elevated by the placement of fill.
Property Description: Lot 8 and a portion of Lot 7, Block 1, Edgerton Beach
Park,
Street Address: 350 Lake Shore Drive
Flooding Source Lake Koshkonong ':
FEMA issues Letters of Map Revision Based on Fill (LOMR-Fs)upon determining that
properties elevated by the placement of fill are no longer within an SFHA. The procedures that
result in the issuance of LOMR-Fs are provided in Section 65.5 of the National Flood Insurance
Program (NFIP)regulations (copy enclosed).
A review of the technical data submitted with this request indicates that the existing structure on
the property referenced above was constructed with its lowest floor(including basement or
enclosure) below the Base Flood Elevation (BFE). This is a potential violation of
Subparagraph 60.3(c)(2) of the NFIP regulations, which states that the lowest floor of residential
structures built in the SFHA must be elevated to or above the BFE. In addition, it represents a
potential violation of Subparagraph 65.5(a)(4)(i). We have notified our Regional Office in
Chicago, Illinois, of this situation. Your community should contact Anna Pudlo of the FEMA
Region V Office by telephone at(312)408-5320 for guidance on the specific actions required to
resolve this issue.
I a) Li 0?- 55(;7 ,
