Femrite Dane County Board of Supervisors 210 Monona Avenue, Room 118 Madison, WI 53709 Dear Mr. Femrite: I have operated my business out of 2418 West Badger Road, in the Town of Madison, for the past six years. This area has been and is zoned C2. There is a hearing scheduled on April 9th to rezone 7 lots starting 300 feet to the West of my property from C2 to R4 in order to build a 200 unit apartment project. I strongly oppose this change. It would be detrimental to the commercial businesses in general and most specifically to my business as well as that of American of Madison. West Badger Road and Todd Drive are used extensively for heavy truck traffic throughout the day as access to the Beltline. To avoid congestion and to complete my work within the limited hours provided by the landfills, I start my trucks at three o'clock in the morning. This activity and resultant noise is not condusive to residential living. On the first warm day, with people sleeping with open windows, I would expect the phones at my office, as well as the Town of Madison, to be ringing con- stantly with complaint calls. There aren't any nearby playgrounds or recreational areas for children. Not only would they take to the congested street, but I fear the heavy equip- ment and large trucks that American of Madison and I run would act like a magnet to draw their attention. I have conversed with Mr. Ruehl and Mr. Mattioli of American of Madison and they share my opposition. I attended a Board meeting at the Town of Madison, last night, and they share opposition to this change. A repre- sentative from the Arboretum was also present and they also oppose this development.
