TOWN OF BLUE MOUNDS
R.F.D. BLUE MOUNDS, WISCONSI N 53517
SP 01 1981
w:r:a91'eLU3v.
September 2, 1987
Dane County
Agriculture, Environment and Land Records Committee
Room 224, City, County Building
Madison, WI 53709
Committee Members,
This letter is in reference to Conditional Use Permit #617 by
Dane County (for - Governmental Use - Park expansion) on approximately
27 acres located in Section 5 of the Town of Blue Mounds.
A letter of opposition to this proposed addition to Brigham Park
was sent to your committee on March 26, 1987 by the Town of Blue
Mounds.
As you know the Town of Blue Mounds has a Land Use Plan which was
adopted in August, 1980 and approved by Dane County in October 1980.
We have worked very successfully with your committee on various
requests for rezoning and we feel we have been successful in
accomplishing the primary goal of the Land Use Plan - Preserving
Tillable Agriculture land.
The approximately 27 acres involved in this request are some of
the finest tillable acres on this farm. Although we support a good
County Park system and we appreciate having Brigham Park located in
our township, we feel these acres should not be used at this time for
park expansion to accomodate parking, ball fields, etc. The town
board wishes to inform you of their continued opposition to the 27
acre acquisition .
A public hearing is scheduled for our Town Supervisor meeting on
September 8, 1987. I will inform your committee of the results of the
hearing or of any change in the board' s position.
Sincerely,
Henry F. tdel , Clerk
Town of Blue Mounds
