MINUTES OF SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING
DATE: June 15, 1987
TIME: 6:30 PM
PLACE: Town Hall
PRESENT: Mr. Solberg; Mses. Matthews, Brimmer, Meier
County Board Supervisor Jerry Femrite met with the Board. He presented the Town
with a check in the amount of $106.96 for ambulance repairs.
Mr. Femrite also reported on a meeting that he and Mr. Solhhrg had attended with
County Executive Jonathan Barry last week on South Madison problems and Mr. Barry
had suggested that $27,000 be budgeted in 1987 and authorized for a youth coord-
inator position to be targeted primarily for the South Madison area. This would
be for the purpose of providing positive direction to youth in this area. Mr.
Femrite reported that the County Board Finance Committee has approved this and it
will be sent to the whole County Board for adoption. Final results should be forth-
coming this week. Letter was drafted to be sent to Mr. Barry expressing our apprec-
iation.
Mr. Rick Petershack met with the Board to discuss the request for Conditional Use
Permit for Nob Hill Properties. Letter has also been received from Robert Moeller
of Wisconsin Education Association Council addressing the concerns expressed by the
Board when they met with them on June 8. After discussion, Ms. Matthews moved,
seconded by Ms. Brimmer that the request for a Conditional Use Permit #581 for
Nob Hill Properties be approved and that the County be so notified. Carried.
The Board reviewed the listing of committee members. It was noted that the Police
and Fire is a Commission rather than a committee and that per statutes terms will
be assigned to these members. Anthony Blevin was appointed to the Parks Commission
to fill the unexpired term of Jim Howard (7/1/90) who has moved from the area.
Mr. Blevin and the Parks Commission Chairman are to be notified of this appointment.
It was also noted that the committees or commissions are to designate a chairperson
and also someone responsible for minutes of their meetings which will be submitted
to the Board so that they may keep abreast of what is happening in these areas.
The Board hopes to pursue guidelines, etc. for the committees and Ms. DeHaven is
asked to check with other municipalities as to guidelines they may have for their
committees. Payment of per diem was also addressed and office is asked to implement
a system for timely and thorough record keeping of the expenses involved.
Implementation of a combined federal campaign procedures for town employees has been
discussed with Ms. DeHaven by Mr. Solberg and further details are to be developed
at a future date.
Letter from Attorney John Hansen on pending litigation was reviewed and placed on
file as a part of the lawsuit file. This is in response to meeting with him on
June 8.
Minutes of June 8 regular Board meeting and June 9, 1987 special Board meeting were
read and approved on motion by Ms. Brimmer, seconded by Ms. Matthews and carried.
Operators applications for (1986) William E. Rogers; Gregory O. Frank; Tony Tolley
and Rosemary Barrett were reviewed and approved on motion by Ms. Brimmtmez , seconded
by Ms. Matthews and carried.
