Oregon, WI 53575 July 27, 1987 Dane County Agriculture, Environment & Land Records Committee Room 116, City-County Building 210 Monona Avenue Madison, WI 53709 RE: Conditional-Use Permit 1605 Weiman Airstrip Dear Committee: This letter is in response to George Schiller's request of neighbors to mount a letter-writing campaign against Dave and Peggy Weiman's request for a conditional-use _ permit for their airstrip. We have been silent up to now, but wish to convey to the committee that we are in Support of the Weiman's application for conditional-use permit 1605. The airstrip will in no way have a substantial impact on either the character, nature and lifestyle of the preexisting community -- which we are very much a part of -- as proclaimed by Mr. Schiller. Statements made by Mr. Schiller concerning a lack of written commitments on the part of the Weimans shows just how much the Schillers are out of tune to the written com- promise which has transpired in recent weeks, and to the Weiman's fulfillment of Dane County's request for additional runway length. We leased the additional acreage to the Weimans not to make money, but rather in the interest of being a good neighbor, to meet the requirements as set forth by Dane County, and in the name of safety? We feel that the compromise reached at the Oregon Town Board meeting held July 13, 1987 in which we were in attendance, addressed the major concerns. So did the town board, and so did those neighbors in attendance. We personally feel that too much fuss has been made of the airstrip and that attempts by a few to rile up the masses have been totally unproductive.
