BOX 8 -
608/836-1711 •` 7
`r— N7/7/Lr
-
July 23, 1987
Dave Weiman
Box 199
Oregon ,Wi 53575
Dear Dave:
This letter confirms our conversation the other day with respect your
proposed airport at Brooklyn . It is my understanding that you will
have 1700 ft of grass runway located midway between 2 town roads
located approx 2600 ft apart . It is also my understanding that on the
east end of the 1/2 section there are trees approx 50 feet above the
elevation of the 1700 ft strip . According to my understanding this
would give you approx 450 ft beyond the East end of the strip to the
50 feet obstacle . Adding 450 feet to 1700 feet would give you a total
distance of 2150 from the start of a takeoff roll to a 50 foot
obstacle .
Using the Owners Manual for a Cessna 182P and the following
conditions:
Weight - Max Gross Takeoff 2950 lbs
Airport Elevation - 1000 ft above Sea Level
Wind - Calm
Surface - Dry Grass
Temp - 30 C (83 F)
Takeoff Ground Roll - 978 feet of runway
Total Distance to Clear 50 ft obstacle - 1763 feet from start of
takeoff
Landing Distance Ground Roll - 903 feet of runway
Total Landing Distance to Clear 50 ft obstacle - 1698 feet
These figures assume level runway , new aircraft performance and no
pilot error .
Last fall the runway data you gave me I believe was approx 900 feet
and you were operating a Cessna 172. Based on that data I did not
support that operation . With these new figures the operation would be
considerably safer . I trust this is the information you need.
,/ Yours truly ,
cY//0 ljl ,_p
aP JUL 27 1987
Mob .• .
