July 23, 1999 <br /> Dane County <br /> Office of Planning and Development <br /> City County Building, Room 116 <br /> Madison, WI 53709-0001 <br /> Dear Board Members: <br /> We are writing this letter in support of Jim and Nancy Murphy, proprietors <br /> of the Riley Tavern. We recommend that the Dane County Office of <br /> Planning and Development grant them a conditional use permit for their new <br /> outdoor facility. <br /> Jim and Nancy Murphy are very courteous neighbors and conscientious <br /> business owners. They go to extremes to keep the area surrounding the <br /> tavern clean of debris and litter. It is not unusual to see them out at 5:30 <br /> a.m. picking up litter to keep the environment clean. <br /> The Murphy's have painstakingly ensured that the improvements to the <br /> existing building and the building expansion are both aesthetically pleasing <br /> and in harmony with the community environment. <br /> We are of the opinion that the expansion of the Riley Tavern is an asset to <br /> the community as well as the surrounding area. The Murphy's will <br /> undoubtedly operate the new expansion with the some high standards <br /> currently engaged in their existing business. <br /> Please allow them a conditional use permit.
