July 23, 1999 <br /> Dane County Planning and Development <br /> City County Building <br /> 210 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. <br /> Madison, WI 53709 <br /> Ladies and Gentlemen, <br /> In the past five years I was Deputy Sheriff responsible for crowd control for the annual <br /> Riley Fest. During this time, I was assisted by another Deputy Sheriff. During the five <br /> years of handling the event,there has been no observed liquor law violations or arrests in <br /> regards to the activities at the festival. From a law enforcement perspective, this festival <br /> has been conducted in a safe and orderly fashion and has posed no necessity for additional <br /> assistance from the Dane County Sheriffs office. At each Riley Fest, there have been two <br /> off-duty Sheriffs in uniform hired by Riley Tavern, Inc. <br /> In closing, it would be my recommendation that this Festival be allowed to continue in <br /> the future. <br /> Sincerely, <br /> Tom Kretschman, Retired Deputy Sheriff <br />
