J! ;
IO, .
and -
yENSIVE ENGINE gNNMENTS—LAND SVv
November 6, 1974
RECEIVED
NOV 1974
George Weir
Dane County Surveyor DANECOUNTYSAMVEYOR
210 Monona Ave.
Madison, Wis. 53709
Dear George:
There seems to be a conflict between the present location of the
Dane County monument set by Tony Thousand on 4/5/74 and the location
asked for by a survey done by Robert W. Baker, October 3, 1958. This
survey was not placed on record for the public to benefit.
I called Baker and asked him for some recollection of his survey
and he proved to be unenlightening. He is no longer practicing surveying;
does not have a current license; works for the state Highway Department
in a surveying capacity; could not recall what evidence he used at this
corner.
I was not sure what to do other than report what I had found to be
the facts as they existed. I would not have been overly concerned, but
I discovered drawings from Dane County Engineering Department substantiating
Baker's corner. I called to ask what evidence they had and their notes were
not definite.
The actual displacement from where the monument is now would be 12 feet
South and 5 feet West. I talked to Leander Hellenbrand, age 45 to 50 who was
the original grantor in 1958. He said he could never remember any evidence
being there. Also, he has lived there all his life. It's rather difficult
to tell just how aware he was of the corner.
The purpose of this report is to put the situation on record, so it can
be used as reference if you think future action is necessary.
Yours truly,
D'Onofrio, Kottke & Associates, Inc.
/aell
RGB:kw Robert G.
